When the users import their Chart of Accounts, the Type and Detail Type must exactly match the types available in QuickBooks Online, including capitalization. If they don’t match, you can either get a red error message and will have to change each line manually, or the import operation will fail.

  • The import file size should be limit to 2 MB or 1000 rows per import.
  • The file must be in Excel or CSV format and must have Account Type and Name fields.

Steps to Import Your Charts of Accounts into QuickBooks

Step 1 – First, Log in to the ‘QBO account

Step 2 – Tap on the gear icon which is on the top right-hand corner of the page

Step 3 – Now, click on ‘Import Data

Step 4 – Then, tap on the ‘Chart of Accounts’ icon

Step 5 – Tap on the link that says ‘Download a sample file

Step 6 – Open the Downloaded file and clear the sample data.

Step 7 – Copy the data in one column at a time.
